Dear Italy, this isnt working out

So on thursday I attempted to do my laundry for the first time- seeing as I have been here 3 weeks and havent done a single load. I somehow pushed some funny looking buttons on my very small washing machine and sat and waited- hoping I wouldnt ruin anything in my failure at reading directions to italian appliances. 45 minutes, and one nap later I unloaded my laundry (fully intact- thank god) only to realize one small problem. It has been raining on and off here, and therefore my drying rack (ie the 3 strings that hang outside my window) didnt help much. So, in short, this is what amounted:

My New Home!

So here i am, finally settled in florence! ive been here for two weeks, and a crazy two weeks it has been. i finally found an apartment (after a week and a half of looking) and moved in yesterday. i feel soo lucky to have found this place, its perfect. the building is one of the oldest apartment buildings still standing in florence, and it is next door to dante's house. what this also means is that its a crazy old building with really steep stairs, and im on the fourth floor. so getting my luggage up was a bit insane yesterday, but with the help of kelsey and amanda we somehow managed. the apartment has been completely redone and never lived in before, and also has an amazing view of the duomo (which i am 3 blocks from). 

so yesterday after my amazing friends helped me shlep my luggage up the four flights of stairs, the 5 of us had a little welcome dinner party here. it was amazing, the perfect way to brake in the apartment. gelato included... obviously.
